This is China team from SAYUL Korea Club.
This month, our team have discussed about 'Cultural Elements to Achieve SDGs'.
Since it was very interesting, we would like to share what we have learnt?
Q. What is SDGs?
SDGs stands for 'Sustainable Developments Goals'. It is a blueprint to achieve a
better future for all people and the world by 2030.
Q. What is the definition of Cultural Element?
We, the China team, have defined 'Cultural Element' as an 'element that forms the
entire culture based on a close relationship with each other'.
Q. What are some cultural elements to achieve SDGs?
1) Educational Element : It is related to SDG4, Quality Education. Some examples
for this would be Affirmative Action, Scholarship, Compulsory Education and Free
2) Fashion Element : It is related to SDG5, Gender Equality. A lot of women
clothing brands presented designs about new woman lifestyles. This is to eliminate
harmful practices and grant women's rights.
3) Marketing Element : It is related to SDG17, Partnerships for the Goals. One
example would be green culture led by enterprises. Another example would be
SDGs told by celebrities through media.
Q. Why do we need cultural elements to achieve SDGs?
This is because cultural elements have a close relationship with sustainable
development and have an impact worldwide. In situations that block the
achievement of SDGs, cultural elements present the right direction as media.
We have found out that cultural elements play an important role in achieving
SDGs. There are much other cases except for what we have suggested. We believe
that we should not only focus on political, environmental, social elements, but also
cultural elements to achieve SDGs faster.
