Hello, everyone :)
This is China team from SAYUL Korea Club.
This month, our team have discussed about ‘Public Diplomacy Related SDGs Examples of China’.
Since it was very valuable, we would like to share what we have talked about.
Q. What are some examples of China that is related to achieving SDGs?
1) Beijing 798 Art Zone (SDG 11): Old storage and factories of old Beijing have become an ‘Art Zone’. It
contributes to the economic growth of local community.
2) Green Shopping Culture (SDG 12): Tmall, the e-commerce platform of Alibaba, provided green
product purchase coupons to encourage the consumption of eco-friendly products.
3) Rural Tourist Spots and Deqing Practice (SDG10): A recovery of consumption and sightseeing
market of rural area is happening because of the vitalization of rural tourism. Chinese government is
promoting a sustainable development in Deqing, Huzhou, China.
4) China’s ODA Diplomacy (SDG10): China promised an expansion and improvement in method of
foreign aid at 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
Q. What does SDGs mean to China?
China tries to realize sustainable development based on ideas of innovation, harmony, eco-friendly,
open, and sharing. These are consistent with the principles that were emphasized in the 2030 Agenda.
SDG10 and SDG12 are hard to achieve. China is working hard for the equalization of public service, but
its Gini coefficient is still high. In addition, the awareness of the people and businesses is needed to
fundamentally improve green lifestyle.
China is enthusiastically taking part in achieving SDGs and making a better world. Even though, SDG10
and SDG12 is hard to achieve, it is trying to overcome its difficulties by examples above. We, the China
team, believe that Chinese government will take a further step toward Sustainable Development Goals.
It will be one of the important countries to make a better life for people and the world.
Thank you for reading!
