Hello, everyone. We’re the Team Japan from SAYUL KC. This month, our team discussed about how could Korea and Japan cooperate in Public diplomacy, especially on COP 26 issues.
First off, our group found out that deforestation and increasing of industrial waste caused by indiscreet use of plastic emerged as a social problem in both Korea and Japan.
In order to cope with such issue, our team suggested a cooperation between university students from each country, Sumitomo Corporation, and Suntory Holdings.
Sumitomo Corporation is known for conducting efforts, in order to realize sustainable development. In 2021, Sumitomo completed a test successfully in Austraila, which was mainly about manfucturing hydrogen and modifying it into the form of liquiaified hydrogen.
When it comes to Suntory, the company has been planned to change beverage bottles to 100% eco-friendly plastic by 2030, and the company agreed on “Net Zero” to be implemented in 2050.
In addition, our team proposed a detailed plan about such cooperation. Group activities such as having discussion on the climate crisis, conducting research on preparation of recycled will help students to not only understand deeply about climate issue, but put eco-friendly acts into practice in their daily lives. At the same point a special lecture conducted by experts will also take place in the project.
Finally. in order to promote engagement, our group suggested about giving the participants incentives, like giving additional points who are willing to apply for intership in Sumitomo Corporation or Suntory holdings. Likewise, priopority benefits for stay-type tourist complexes will be given to those with excellent acitivites.
