Today we will introduce [Trendy/ Heritage of Korea -Traditional Summer Food]
Samgyetang, Korean stamina food, is enjoyed on the hottest days between June and July.
It is soup of boiled chicken with glutiniois rice, chestnut, jujubes, garlic, and Korean ginseng.
Hwachae is served cold.
It is made by putting sliced fruits or flower leaves in water or Omija with sugar/honey and pine nuts.
As it is usually enjoyed in summer, watermelon is a popular ingredient.
Sujeonggwa and Shikhe were served as desserts on traditional holidays!
Korean ancestors had cold drinks made from natural ingredients to stand the heat.
Sujeonggwa is a drink of boiled cinnamon, and Gotgam with some sugar or honey.
Gotgam in Sujeonggwa doesn't only taste good but also is good for enhancing immunity and preventing anemia.
Sikhe is a sweet drink made by fermenting malt.
Malt contains a great amount of amylase, diastatic emzyme.
So whatever one had a greasy meal, Sikhe is the best dessert.
