This is Team Indonesia of Sayul korea club.
Today, we'll introduce about the available things for achieving SDGs goals.
1. CTI, Sanctuary Triangle Initiative
CTI maintains marine resources by addressing important issues such as food security, climate change, and marine biodiversity. It has also been monitoring reefs for more than two years and protecting them economically valuable with the support of a reef management project. In addition, it has the effect of managing marine protection areas through ecotourism projects and species preservation projects.
2. Eco Trust on Gili Island
Indonesia is working with various companies and diving school teams to repair damaged reefs and education on safe fishing practices to fisherman. In particular, the Gili Eco Trust, which consists of residents of Gili Island, has worked with seven diving schools in the Gili Island and achieved remakable success. They install and manage equipment to prevent damage to coral reefs and eco-day is set up to collect trash around the island from tourists once a month.
3. ICZM
Indonesian government established ICZM to manage islands and overcome difficulties in coastal communities. ICZM manages islands and coastal areas and contributes greatly to the implementation of Indonesia’s global marine observation system.
4. Convention on Cooperation in the marine plant service industry
Indonesia has signed a Cooperation in the marine plant service industry(MOU) to combat climate change. Through the conclusion of this business agreement, we tried to develop joint technologies related to the marine plant service industry as well as carry out environmental projects in various fields such as private exchange promotion and recycling projects. Starting this year, the government plans to carry out a joint pilot profect to dismantle three old offshore plants east of Kalimantan by 2025.
