Hello! We are team South Africa.

Why is public diplomacy important? Public diplomacy is a representative example of a change in function and role, and promotes consensus and trust through direct communication with the people of other countries. Currently, the importance of public diplomacy is increasing. Public diplomacy acts as an important means as COVID-19 weakens economic and social vulnerabilities in developing countries and the need for international cooperation to respond to SDGs development tasks.

Our team investigated South Africa's practice of public diplomacy based on some of the SDGs' goals. A volunteer organization established to protect the marine ecosystem in South Africa conducts events aimed at promoting people's interest in marine protection and conducts inertia education for children and civil society.
In addition, there is the Dreamcatcher Foundation established with the aim of creating a sustainable ecosystem for the community. Eight years of efforts with local residents and one of the two garbage dumps is converted into a botanical garden to take the lead in environmental protection.

Second, South Africa tries to accelerate the transition to a carbon-neutral society, contribute to securing climate resilience, and exercise ESG leadership. It aims to accelerate the implementation of SDGs through MOU signatures that contribute $4 million to green growth and global goals, and supports projects in the green sector of public-private cooperation in developing countries.

Third, it contributes to resolving the structure of income inequality in South Africa through the Broad-Based Black Economy Empowerment Act(BBBEE) This is an economic process that allows black people to participate in the South African economy in the same way as white people without discrimination.
